Avon Walk for Breast Cancer Fund Raiser

Our friend (and loyal fan) Kelly was diagnosed with Breast Cancer a couple of years ago.

Thankfully, she kicked Cancer in the ass, balls and face. Every year since then, Kelly raises money to participate in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. We gladly played Kelly’s fundraiser last year and it was a great time, and a success. She rented out a hall, sold tickets, posted on Facebook and spread the word. We also did what we could to promote the cause for her.

This year was a little different. Kelly came to us again, her favorite band ever, PLAYED OUT, to play the benefit. We were happy to, of course, but we suggested Kelly have her fundraiser at one of our shows, to minimize those out-of-pocket expenses, and allow her to put more money towards her walk. By having the event at one of our shows, she wouldn’t need to rent out the hall, sell tickets, etc.

Kelly agreed it was a great idea and proceeded to spread the word. She created a Facebook Event and coined the Event “Help Save the Ta’ Ta’s with New Englands Hippest Party Band PLAYED OUT!“. It was a big hit, and over 30 people accepted the invitation to the fundraiser, which would be held Saturday, April 10th at Waxy O’Connor’s in Foxboro, MA.

The show was a HUGE success! The venue was completely packed, people were donating and having a great time! We made a night of it, and Kelly made $1,500 of the $1,800 needed to walk in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer.

We look forward to helping her out again next year!!!
